Melbourne Institute of Technology’s Marketing Discipline Leader/Senior Lecturer Dr Geoffrey Chow and Dr Vanaja Karagiannidis/Senior Lecturer of Management at MIT organised a gathering of the ‘The New Silk Roads Research Group’ in Melbourne on 28th August 2019 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Speaker for the evening was from Edith Cowan University: Associate Professor Ferry Jie who specialises in supply chains & logistics management. So far, he has secured more than $1.3 million in research funds in the form of grants/awards. He is also the research chairperson of the New Silk Roads Research Group. During the evening session, he spoke on the implications of emerging trends in global logistics and supply chain management of the planning. Associate Professor Ferry Jie will also speak on this topic in a Special Session at the New Silk Roads World Forum in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia in March 2020. One of the outcomes of the evening is a proposal for the Group to conduct research on issues and problems on four broadly based clusters. The anticipated clusters are:Cluster 1: Global logistics and supply chain technology;Cluster 2: Transportation Modes/Freight Logistics; Cluster 3: Regulation/Policy; andCluster 4: Risk and Uncertainty including global consumers’ expectations.
